How is cash in Fixed-term accounts allocated?
Cash in Fixed-term accounts is allocated across one or more banks with €100,000 statutory deposit guarantee per bank per person. Additional contractual deposit guarantee possible.
Is the interest rate guaranteed and when is interest paid out?
Yes, as soon as your account has been opened, the interest is guaranteed for the selected term. For example: If you invest €10,000 for a term of 2 years at 3.25% p.a.*, you will receive a fixed and guaranteed interest payment of €650 at the end of the term. Once the fixed-term account reaches its maturity interest is paid out either to your Overnight, Broker clearing or reference account.
Are Meridian fixed-term accounts also available for children?
Yes, you can also open fixed-term accounts for children. To do this, first create a Meridian Kid’s account. You can then add the Kid’s Fixed-term account under: Home > Add new product > For my child > Fixed-term account. You can flexibly deposit money into the Kid's fixed-term account from your own Overnight or broker clearing account.
